I have decided the I don't care for Greek tragedies at least not the ones that I have read. I like the Greek myths and there still considered tragedy , so I guess I can't generalize it. I find that I feel no pity for the main characters such as Oedsuies They always seem ignorant and conceited and rather self centered. you brought this upon yourself is the initial thought that goes through my head. I pity the other characters that suffer because of the chosese made by the main male character.
When I compair Oedysius to later tragedies like shaperpers Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. There Is also the personal flaws involded in these works but there more suddel and are also surouned by unforunet serenstances. The untimely death of romero is his own falt for being young and too quick to action it is also fault to the fryer and the plegue that caueds the gates to be closed and blocked him form deliveriong his letter. Hamlet on ther other had in mostley the reson for his downfall but you have to give him creaed because he's trying to fixs things but everything he dose only makes things worse. The TED talked was a little divicult to realt to tragedy at fist glance , Well I guess no really. If I hadn't been looking for a conection to tragedy I don't think I would have found one.

I notice how this week our creative writing on tuesday connected with our new unit on tragedy. Well not necessarily connected but I felt it put me in a better mindset to learn about tragedy and connecting with other works I have read. I feel bad for the subs when we have them in this class because they never seem quiter shur what to do and there nots don't always line up with what we have on the agenda on weebly. I like that we mixed up partners for the partner notes. Being able to talk to someone new what really helpful and insightful. I also like how after reading the Tragedy of the Commons piece we did that save the last word exercise. I was helpful to look at the same concepts from a different angel. |
