After showing are presentation when watching the presentations by other groups I had a better understanding of what was expected for the presentation. I found my self guessing what there great would be compared to ours . I feel like Grace Zimmerman and Lauren did the best. I think it would have been helpful when you were walking around talking to the groups if you had shown us the rubric and how what we had would grad and what we need to do to improve, I think I would have help put things in prospective.
In starting to like my SSR book I like how the book is written like little memories cut out and pieced together I feel like in the end there all supported to come together to mean something but I do not know what that I or if I will get it.

There are both pros and cons to working in a group. One of which is getting a second opinion on your work. Like how when you write something and in your head it makes sense but your writing it really fast because you're afraid you're going to forget what you're trying to say, and in the end it it's all scrambled. Having a partner is also helpful for when you are unsure about a topic, For example after reading The Very Old Man With Enormous Wings I had a difficult time deciding what point of view it was written in. Being able to talk with Cailin about it after she had read the piece we were able to go back and look at our packets and take the information that that we knew and by process of elimination figure it out. Con is that you or members of your group can get distracted and get off topic. Cailin dose a lot of the work on the Prezi. I appreciate that she's taking annotative, but I wish that she would talked to me before she starts creating stuff so I new what was happening and got the chance to agree or disagree with what she was doing. It also makes me feel like I'm not contributing as much. Usually what I do is go back through what she's done and read through and talk to her about editing some parts. I think it is important to be comfortable discussing thing with your group and to be countuertabe with letting other look at your work and give constructive criticism. I'm worried I'm not going to like my new SSR book. This week I chose A Portrait of The Artist as a Young Man. I've notice as well when reading the summaries of the books when choosing from the list that I do not relate with a majority of the books at least with their plot and the characters background. But maybe the point of reading them is to be able to look past the characters generalized background and relate to them through there personalities and empathizes with there general situation and not there exacted predicament. http://www.psychologicalscience.org/publications/observer/2014/september-14/literary-character.html The majority of this week was spent working on our What is Literature project. Cailin and I have started to create the fantasy portion of the prezi. We also worked on editing and finalizing our creative writing pieces. Most of my work that I put in the the final piece was done in my novel class. the first piece Women in Midnight was the first pieces I wrote in novel this years and it is still my favorite piece. The other two pieces were started in AP Lit but I took the time in novel to expand on them. I think I like the first piece so much because it's different than anything I have written before in the way I described what was happening and also how the whole pisces is shadowed in mystery mostly because I didn't know what I was writing. The story just formed out of itself which mad the mystery of it just as exciting to me as I might be to a reader. For that same reason however I am worried that it will not be any good because there is no clear direction that I'M trying to take. Publish authors can spend years creating a plot for their stories and developing their characters including little breadcrumbs through the story to weave everything together. For now at least I think I have a really good start. I have an Idea that I can exspand on and contuneue to devlop this story. http://www.writersdigest.com/online-editor/how-to-develop-any-idea-into-a-great-story gives some helpful advies on how to exspand on an idea and develp it into a " Great Story". In this the fifth week of AP Lit we began to form our groups for the What is literature project. My group ,which consists of Cailin and me, choose to do our projected on Fantasy and Point of view. We started working on the fantasy portion of the project but have not gotten into the point of view section to avoid getting them confused. We are read The Most Dangerous Game for the first of the three works . I read this story in 9th grade and while reading the papers that help expand our literary sections I kept finding ways to relate The Most Dangerous Game to fantasy. Fanticy from my understanding is a way to communicate truths by means of imagined facts. There are three types of fantasy . In the First kind of fantasy the writer attempts to create an illusion of reality, they are careful to stay in the realm of plausible. The second type of fantasy involves a realm in which the writer has created their own realm of reality this type involves what you typically envision when you think of fantasy made up realms with magical creatures and mythical beings. The third is known as magical realism in which magical events are interwoven with mundane and ordinary situations. This is often when mythical creatures, i.e vampires, werewolves and such, are placed in a setting of the real world this type of fantasy is most popularly used in young adult novels such as Harry Potter , Twilight, Percy Jackson and countless others. The main point of fantasy in general is to take a deeper look into humanity to reveal " human truths" Fantasy can be employed "sheerly for its own sake or as a means of communication significant insights into the world of human beings." The may not be made of fact and true accounts but they can be used to convey a truth in humanity or a society. http://teachers.yale.edu/curriculum/viewer/initiative_06.03.08_u |
